/ MINERAL SPRING / O. The bottle is from Avon, NY Livingston County and measures about 7 3/4 inches tall. This is the exact same bottle pictured in Tuckers Collectors Guide to the Saratoga Type Mineral Water Bottles, 2. The bottle dates from about 1865 to 1875. The bottle is in good condition for its age.
The bottle is whittled with light scratches throughout the exterior of the bottle and 4 dings on the back bottom edge with the 1/2 moon ding (far left) that might actually be a manufacturing flaw (hard to say). More importantly, the top of the bottle has been professionally repaired. If you look on page 106 of Tuckers book, you will see the bottle before it was repaired. There is a small internal crack from the repaired area into the neck of the bottle. In addition, there is a small shallow open bubble on the shoulder along with an internal pot stone near the bottom of the U in Upper (you can also see the pot stone in the picture included in Tuckers book). See pictures for overall condition. This bottle is so rare that at the time Tuckers Book was being produced in 2005, this bottle was the only known example available to be used in his book. There are currently only 4 known examples. The bottle comes from a smoke free home.
