Congress & Empire Spring Bottle, Saratoga, NY, Scarce Amber Stoddard Glass Works

Congress & Empire Spring Co. This is a scarce amber version of a bottle that is more common in various shades of green. It is a post-mold bottle most likely manufactured at the Stoddard Glass Works in New Hampshire, which specialized in this type of bottle. It does have a couple of chips in the lip, but is loaded with character.

There are many bubbles, including a two long worm-like bubbles on the rear shoulder, a one-inch bubble under the ONG on the front and another just right of the RE. There's pronounced twisting lines on the neck, imperfections on the applied top, nice whittling primarily on the back half of the mold, and a ghosted 2 on the bottom to the right of the primary mold number. Other than the chipped lip, there's light vertical line between the Congress and E logo, which could be a scratch but looks more like an imperfection from the manufacturing process.
