Here we have a very nice early Sands sarsaparilla bottle. The bottle is embossed on the panels and reads Genuine/ Sands' Sarsaparilla/ New York. This bottle dates to the 1850s. The bottle is full of whittle especially on the embossed panel.
One thing that makes this one a bit unique is the "ghost" embossing on the "Sands' Sarsaparilla" panel. If you look closely, there is a second set of the same embossing that is just below both sets of embossing. Shifted just a bit to the right, there is a fairly clear "D" "S" and below, is a faint "R" "I" "L".
This is the first version that I have noticed the ghost letters on. This bottle also features a great crude double collared lip and a perfect open pontil scar base.
The bottle stands 10 1/4 tall. There is a small double flake to the edge of the unembossed panel (shown in last pic).
Other than that minor issue, there are no chips, cracks, bruises, pot stone issues, stains, etc. Just a touch of some very light interior haze. A great early pontiled medicine!
