Hutchinson & Straight Side Bottle Carrier In 1905 Coca Cola began producing bottles of soda in Syracuse NY. This crate dates to that timeframe. This crate fits into that time period where it was likely a startup crate for the Syracuse plant to use until the newer yellow painted custom crates were delivered to the plant. Both ends of the crate have standard block letter "Coca Cola Bottling Co Syracuse New York" with nothing on either long side. One end is quite legible while the other is the'sun-side' and faded significantly.
Pictures show well the overall condition of the crate. I have included reference pictures from an early catalog showing this style of crate as well as an early animal drawn Coca Cola wagon showing this style of crate in use. Bottles and crates for Syracuse from this early time period are scarce, making this a great item for regional collectors to add to their collections.
