This wonderful leather-over-wood apothecary travel case is lined with the original red leather & red velvet. (velvet covers the cushioning padded interior lid). The case is fitted with 4 divided compartments - which originally held four small 4 1/2. Glass apothecary/medicine bottles & stoppers. In my non-expert opinion - the case is structurally sound - no cracks or breaks, the top/lid r. Emains fully attached -firmly & wobble-free, the top/lid closes completely - neatly & properly aligns with the bottom, the red velvet remains largely secure and shows light wear for its age, the smooth leather covering is complete with only some usage nicks & scrapes - but the leather is. Dried out & the stitching appears to me to have remained fully intact. The only actual damage is a portion of the strap closure is missing, so the strap is unable to buckle closed. Approximate measurements- case: 6 1/2" x 5 1/8" x 1 3/4"; Interior compartments (4): 4 1/4" tall x 1 3/16" to 1 3/8" wide x 3/4 deep (bottom).
