Antique Bottle, Patent Medicine, Gargling Oil / Lockport, N. Y, Emerald Green

ANTIQUE BOTTLE, PATENT MEDICINE, GARGLING OIL / LOCKPORT, N. Here we have a gorgeous deep emerald green patent medicine bottle. It is a real handfull, being 2" x 3" x 7 tall. And weighing almost a pound!

The base is smooth and the mold seam stops well down on the neck, so the bottle is blown-in-mold-with applied-lip (pre-1903). The glass is a beautiful deep green, probably blown at the Lockport Glass Works in Lockport, N. This glass works was founded in 1843 and remained open until 1908. During the late 1800's they blew many different bottle designs for G.

Merchant, proprietor of Merchant's Gargling Oil, all in this shade of "Lockport green". This is one of the scarcer designs, due to its size and heft. It is a real beauty, in sparkling mint condition.
