Here is offered a very scarce and the largest size Southern antique medicine bottle embossed all on the front on two different indented oval plates as indicated : HAVILAND & CO / CHARLESTON & AUGUSTA // Druggist (mortal & pestle motif) NEW YORK. This outstanding medium green bottle has been professionally tumbled to remove almost all exterior scratches and surface wear as well as most all interior haze or clouds. There are no chips , cracks, or dings and no cracks other than the one issue which will be described.
This early bottle just missed the pontil period and should date from 1859 to early 1860's. It has a very drippy large sloping double collar mouth that is tooled applied and very crude on a long stretched neck and has a large smooth oval base with a concave depression. Unfortunately there is a 1/2 in.
Inside lip bruise(see photo 10) but has been priced accordingly. This bottle stands 10 1/2 in.
Tall and the embossing is weak but readable which is typical of this particular specimen. Good luck and GOD BLESS you.
