BEAUTIFUL YELLOW TILDEN & CO NEW LEBANON, NY CRUDE SQUARE 1870s SHAKER MEDICINE

This is a real pretty golden yellow amber crude whittled Tilden & Co New Lebanon shaker medicine bottle from the 1870s.... One of the crudest examples with great color that I have seen! The square bottle is boldly embossed TILDEN & CO.

The other two panels are flat and very crude and whittled wavy glass! Hand blown in mold, bimal.... Crude applied tapered collar with big drip of glass that was partially refired but remains very crude...... 7"tall x 2 1/2"square..... Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage.

Some very light cooling lines on inside surface only of neck from when lip was applied and refired. You cant even see them when bottle is sitting upright... You have to hold it in the light at just the right angle to even see the very shallow stress lines. A shiny clean bottle outside with only a possible light "fog" inside. A wonderful bottle with heavy whittled glass and great color!

New Lebanon was the main spiritual home of the Shakers. Tilden of New Lebanon, New York was closely associated with the nearby Shaker Community.

He won the popular vote but lost to Rutherford B. Hayes in the Electoral College. Tilden & Co manufactured medicines. In conjunction with the Shakers who farmed the plants that Tilden used. They made 250 kinds of fluid and solid extracts, more than 100 varieties of pills, 100 elixers and over 100 types of syrups and wines.
