CARL H SCHULTZ 1868 Tenpin Glass Bottle May 1868-New York- Blob Top-Rare

This is a rare, original Carl H. Schultz Pat May 1868 New York green/clear glass Tenpin-shaped, Blob-topped beer bottle. It is approximately 8 inches tall and 1-1/4 wide base. The imprint of a building has the letters CP and M-S on either side of it.

The old glass has bubbles in it as is common for glass of this age. There is a small crack at the top of the blob top as shown in one photo. It appears to have been there when made and is not chipped inside. You can feel a small roughness at the crack, but again it does not affect the rare blob top. It weighs just slightly over 1 pound.

I found this bottle over 55 years ago when I was digging on our property in Old Saybrook, CT. My dad was a wooden sailboat/mast builder and rigger and we had 14 acres at a cove near Long Island Sound.

An area near the marsh had been used for many years as a dumping ground for bottles of various kinds as well as shell middens left by the Native Americans up to 1000 years before. This bottle is one of the nicest things I uncovered there.

I have loved it for all these years but thought another collector would also appreciate it.
