It is claimed that the 1885 Erie County Fair or "Hamburg Fair" is the place where food vendors Frank and Charles Menches invented and named the hamburger sandwich that consisted of ground beef, brown sugar, coffee, and other ingredients topped with ketchup and sliced onions.
