Here is your chance to own a true piece of history. This is very likely the first bottle that was ever put out by Mr Rushton and Mr Aspinwall after they partnered up in 1835 to form the famous patent medicine company RUSHTON & ASPINWALL. Through extensive research I was able to make sense of this bottles existence. When Rushton & Aspinwall first opened shop, they did so at 86 William S-T in NYC. Very shortly after they opened another location at 110 Broadway st.
This variant is only embossed with the 86 William s-t address which has led me to believe that this bottle was made before they opened their second location at 110 Broadway st. Furthermore, the bottle that was made from they same mold that we all know and love and comes in different shades of green is exactly the same as this variant in every way except that it also is embossed with the 110 Broadway address. I know that it was blown in the same mold because both bottles have the same rivet mark in the exact same place on the front of the bottle. This led me to the conclusion that the original mold was only altered to add the 110 Broadway st address. This bottle is crudely and boldly embossed " RUSHTON & ASPINWALL // 86 WILLIAM S-T // NEW YORK". On top of being the only known example, this example is truly whittled to the core as well as being the crudest medicine bottle I have seen with thousands of tiny seed bubbles and an orange peel texture. This bottle is also in very near to mint condition with the only flaws being a tiny 1/10'' open bubble on the edge of a side panel and a pontil chip that was done during manufacturing and is not considered damage by most collectors. I have since had it professionally cleaned and restored to it's original luster. ORIGIN - America Ca 1835 - 1837 LIP TREATMENT - Applied Sloping Collar BASE - Open Pontil COLOR - Aquamarine DIMENSIONS - 6 1/2'' by 2 3/8'' CONDITION - Excellent condition with No Chips, No Cracks, No Bruises, No Flashes, No potstone radiations, and No scratches. There is a tiny open bubble on one of the corners of a side panel as well as a pontil chip that happened during the empontiling process and is not considered damage. This bottle displays beautifully and is my most prized possession.
Unfortunately circumstance has led me to sell it, my loss is your gain. You will likely never have another chance at owning this bottle.
