This is a 1 PINT & 12 OZ'S (28 oz) heavy Aqua blue glass bottle dating from the 1880s. It is embossed with JAMES BUTLER INC. James Butler was an Irish merchant who opened his first store in 1882.

At his passing in the 1930s he operated over 1000 stores, 2nd only to A&P!!! He is hailed as the first grocery chain owner! This bottle includes the original bail and ceramic stopper (no rubber), which makes it even more rare and more desirable! Bottle is in very good condition with only minor rough spots shown in last two pictures.

It could use a little more cleanup if desired. Normal manufacturing imperfections are noted and one side has some scratches. 3 part bail, two parts have rust but still solid. Ceramic stopper has no chips or cracks and missing the rubber as mentioned above. 11.5" tall (12.25" with stopper) x 3.5 in diameter.
