Up for your consideration is an absolutely stunning example of a GW Merchant bottle. This one is very scarce because of the tombstone style mold or shape it is in. Very tough to come across these. It is an sharp open pontil with a crudely applied top.
It stands 5 1/2" tall, 2" wide and 1 (inch) thick. The color is a beautiful and really deep emerald green / Lockport green.
What makes this one extra special is the crazy amount of amber-yellow striations or swirls that are in it. The glass is filled with swirls from the top of the lip down into the body.It was difficult to capture it on camera. The bottle is heavily whittled and has tons of pebbly texture to it. Couldn't get a more extreme crude piece. Excellent condition, with no chips, flakes, dings, cracks, bruises, scrapes or scuff marks.
There is one small 1/8 dip or gouge mark on the top edge of the lip. I believe this to be an in-making issue and NOT a flake or chip. Looks like it was done while the top was being applied.
