Unknown ARTIFICIAL CONGRESS SARATOGA NY MINERAL WATER BOTTLE PATTERSON & BRAZEAU

Up for sale here is quite the special and unlisted Saratoga Mineral Water bottle which is unknown to the bottle hobby. Its not listed anywhere in the Collector's Guide to the Saratoga Type Mineral Water Bottles, by Donald Tucker book, and cannot be found anywhere else. Let alone seen one before. This example was recently privy dug in the vicinity of southwestern Pa. It is in a rich medium olive green color, with the tapered applied collared top.

The condition is good, with the exception of a very thin old vertical stable crack, which is on the back area of bottle, as shown here in very good detail. The crack measures 3 3/4 inches long, and cannot be seen at all from the front. On the back its not quickly recognizable, but is there. Please see all of the crisp gallery pictures above to view this. It also has the usual light ground wear and haze from being buried for many years.

Overall this pint sized gem displays handsomely as seen here, and could use a very light and careful tumbling, if so desired. There are no other glass issues with this one of a kind unknown example here. The embossing is full, crude and crisp, as it reads on the front open face ARTIFICIAL CONGRESS (arc) / PATTERSON & BRAZEAU (inner arc) / N. The old base is plain as with the rest of this mineral water bottle. Its in the pint size and measures 7 1/2 inches tall, and 3 inches in diameter.

This bottle looks to date from the mid 1860's or so. The light passes through this example nicely. You will be well pleased with this unique Saratoga Mineral Water bottle from the state of New York.

This is from an old article clipping, which I googled on line. And is the only slight information that I could find on this bottle.
