Vintage NEW YORK KNIFE Co Jumbo 4-Blade Camp/Utility Pocket Knife 1882-1931 Bone

I've gone for months now avoiding having to do this BUT...... This may seem harsh to some but it is necessary because of the actions of the few.

Few being as many as 11 at once at times. If you don't read the full description and look at all the photos you're going to miss a lot of detail. Please ask questions if you still have any. It has come to my attention that the scales on this knife may have been replaced. Since no one offered up their reasoning that the scales are not original then I include this addendum to clarify the listing. Since I would never willingly try to sell a knife that I didn't believe to be authentic please continue to read. That being said please assume that these are not the original scales. If they have been replaced they still look great. I'm guessing the person who replaced them, if they have been, did so to replace a damaged pair and tried replacing them with some close to the original. So now that you know as much as I do I'm leaving this knife up for sale and at the same price because I think this knife is still awesome.

This Knife, Made by the New York Knife Co. Is the largest Jumbo Camp/Utility Knife I believe I've ever come across at 4 3/4 in length.

The knife looks to have been lightly used and cleaned and re-polished at some point. It has a carbon steel saber clip point main blade with a long nail pull. You can still see some very light scratches from use but it's been really-polished to a mirror polish now. Stamped on the front tang is HAMMER (over) BRAND along with the Hammer Brand arm and hammer logo.

The next blade, on the same pivot end as the spear blade, is the carbon steel combo blade with a common nail pull. It has a cap-lifter on the bottom and the old style can opener on the top. It has just a very few light pits. On the opposite end of the frame is a carbon steel Harrison leather punch that was patented in 1902.

It's been cleaned and re-polished as well and is still at its full length with it's original tip still intact. Stamped on the inside face is PAT. 701878 which identifies it as the 1902 Harrison punch.

The fourth blade is a full carbon steel sheepfoot blade with a long nail pull. It's been cleaned and re-polished but there are three clusters of moderate pitting on the front face. Stamped on the front tang is NEW YORK (over) KNIFE CO (over) WALDEN. All four blades still have excellent hard and loud open and close snap and all four all have very hard half-stops. The knife has an excellent plus set of dark reddish brown jigged bone stag scales.

They're in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There is a brightly polished German Silver crest shaped shield in the front scale. There are four (4) brass end pins in each scale. The knife has brightly polished German Silver single flute and rounded but flat bolsters. The original shackle is still attached to the bolsters.

The knife has brightly polished brass liners with a heavy duty bottom center liner. There are two heavy duty steel back springs and both are free of any cracks or breaks. Both springs continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This unique vintage New York Knife Co. 4-Blade Jumbo Camp/Utility Knife was made in the NYKC factory located in Walden, New York and is 4 3/4 in length.
