Please use your own words and photos for your listings. Nº5 talcum powder housed in a delicate, 3-ounce, cylindrical molded glass shaker bottle by Chanel Inc. All photos were taken in natural light at 40x magnification to best highlight overall condition. Please note : there is an extremely tiny flea bite on the upper rim of the bottle, just above the letter "A" in Chanel (wrap-around paper label). It is extremely difficult to spot with the naked eye (please see photo number 9), but does feel rough when running a fingertip along the edge of the rim and is visible under high magnification. Also, only a small bit of the original, ultra-fine, silky talcum powder remains inside the bottle.

Properly Dating a Chanel Talcum Bottle Chanel first launched its talcum powder in 1926. The bottle style in this listing appeared in Chanel ads by 1935.

The bottle in this listing features an early metal slip-off top cap with a metallic silver screw-top shaker top. The base of the bottle is properly embossed, Chanel. Both paper labels are almost completely intact and are fully readable. The lower front face label features the dot under the "o" - which is indicative of all Chanel bottles made until 1951. In addition, the wording, "New York Distributor" was used from the latter 1940s and into the 1950s. This early bottle style is so fragile and lightweight that not many have survived the ravages of time.

This is one of those must-have items for the serious vintage Chanel collector. More About Chanel Nº5 Originally launched in 1921, Chanel Nº5 is delicately light and softly sensual a " now and forever fragrance" and the first great abstract perfume. Chanel Nº5 conjures up no precise floral scent and survives the passage of mere trends because it is beyond them. Coco Chanel wanted a woman's fragrance that smells like a woman. When Ernest Beaux presented her with his fifth composition, the choice seemed simple and obvious.

Her perfume would be called Nº5. Five, after all, was her lucky number. Your item will be carefully packed in a sturdy box. I do not skimp on packing materials. I do not respond to any requests to undervalue or mislabel merchandise. My goal is for you to be pleased with your experience.
