This is quite the rare find. The Ellicott special atomizer for oil or water supplied with nasal tip which should be removed when spraying the throat; it is guaranteed; can be sterilized by boiling. Ellicott Drug Company Buffalo New York. The last five photographs are from the internet. It looks like, based on this patent number, the rubber bulb was made sometime between 1869 and 1870.
I did not have luck in locating the diagrams or prints with this patent. From what I can tell the actual atomizer was not invented until later on see photographs. However, it's more than likely that they used a pre-existing rubber bulb from a laboratory or other supplier. The Box appears to be in fairly good shape except for some standing and slight damage to the label on the lower right hand corner and some of the edges.
Label is also detaching from the box on the right side. The Box itself does have some staining. The bulb does not appear to be cracked and the one squeezed, the atomizer does produce an air flow. We have not put fluids in it to test it.
Rubber does tend to decay over time so we can make no guarantees for the condition when you receive it. But again, it does seem to be working now. Also included is, as picture, the tip for the nose which is mentioned in the print on the label.
There is also a small glass dropper that came with this. This is from our family estate.
