This listing is for a rare Whitall Tatum and Co. Hand-blown glass museum specimen jar. The jar dates from between 1895 and 1910 and is hand-blown soda lime glass.
The glass has natural imperfections including a few small bubbles and slight waviness in the sides of the glass due to natural thickness variation. The bottom of the jar is pontiled.
The top flange also has a slight fold where it was attached to the jar body. Lip of the flange is ground glass, as seen in the pictures. The lid of the jar reads WHITALL. TATUM & Co PHILADELPHIA NEW YORK and. The lid also has two small.Hooks from which the specimens could have been. Both the jar and lid have no chips, cracks, clouding or damage. This jar includes the metal screw clamp to hold down the lid of the jar.
The clamps shows almost no rust and. The dimensions of the jar are. 3.0 outer flange diameter. 2.25 inner flange and jar diameter.
